Anise Seed Essential Oil, Therapeutical Grade
Fragrance: Sweet, Warm, Liquorice, Spicy.
Perfumery Note: Middle
Blends well with: Lavender, Orange, Fennel, Petitgrain, Rosewood, Pine, Clove, Cinnamon.
External Application:
As a massage oil (mix 5 drops of aniseed oil with 10ml of vegetable oil) against:
Abdominal pain and gastric spasms, nervous indigestion complaints, fleas and lice combined with fennel and coriander, it is very effective for flatulence.
As an Inhalant:
(Add 5 - 8 drops of aniseed oil to 1 litre of hot water):
Against chronic bronchitis, expectorant in the respiratory tract (expelling fluids in the respiratory tract), asthma, poor breathing due to nervousness.
Internal Application:
(1 drop of aniseed oil on a teaspoon of honey or a sugar cube, one time a day, preferably in the morning)
Nursing aid (it stimulates the flow of breast milk), improves/ stimulates kidney activity, it has a diuretic effect (most common problem treated with diuretic products is high blood pressure -.reduce amount of liquid in blood vessels -> reduce blood pressure), it has appetizing effect and soothes flatulence.
Quote from Kurt Schnaubelt’s “Medical Aromatherapy”: a drop of anise seed oil on a sugar cube will immediately restore equilibrium to an acutely out-of- whack autonomic nervous system.(Blood pressure, Heart and breathing rates, body temperature, digestion, metabolism, balance of water and electrolytes, production of body fuids,etc) It is the number–one hangover remedy. It has an oestrogen-mimicking effect and can be used for amenorrhea (absence of menstruation).”
In the Diffuser:
Emmenagogue(stimulating blood flow, aids child birth, lack of menstruation), asthma, nervous breathing. Aniseed oil has a calming effect whenever fears or depressions have been pent up und it helps to master negative emotions. Creates an optimistic mood, makes us diplomatic, enhances understanding and adaptability.
SPECIFIC SAFETY ADVICE
This oil should only be used by experienced aromatherapists – high coumarin content! Skin-irritant and also internally toxic in high concentration. Avoid if pregnant or epileptic. Best avoided internally and only used in small amounts externally and in the diffuser.
GENERAL SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential oils are potent plant extracts! Do not take any oils internally without consultation from a qualified medical practitioner. Keep all essential oils securely out of child’s reach. Do not apply undiluted to the skin. Always avoid mucous membranes and eyes. If you are pregnant or have any medical problem, use oils only under the proper guidance of a qualified medical practitioner. Use extreme caution when using oils for children and use only the gentlest oils at very low concentrations; it is safest to consult a qualified medical / aromatherapy practitioner. A skin patch test should be conducted prior to using any oil. Essential oils may attack plastics and varnished surfaces! And here’s another fact that most of us would be rather unaware of... many essential oils are highly flammable!
