Cajeput Essential Oil, Therapeutical Grade
Fragrance: Strongly reminiscent of Eucalyptus oil, but milder.
Perfumery Note: Top/Middle
Blends well with: Lavender, Clove, Nutmeg, citrus oils; Rosemary, Geranium, Marjoram, Rosewood, Juniper, Thyme.
External Application:
Mixed with vegetable oil (5 drops to 10ml of oil) cajeput oil is effective against, rheumatism (used as a massage oil), acne and psoriasis (dab with a cotton wool wad), toothache (use ear-buds for application), earache (combine with St. John’s Wort oil and gently rub outerear), neuritis (inflammation of a eye nerves), analgesic (sore and aching muscles), colds, flu, bronchitis;
Use either in a compress or as a chest rub for throat infection.
Compresses also help remedy intestinal disorders, e.g. Diarrhoea, stomach cramps, intestinal parasites (ascaridae and oxyuridae).
Very effective also when inhaled (a few drops to a pot of hot water). application with cotton bud)
Internal Application:
Warms the stomach; 1 - 2 drops of cajeput oil on a sugar cube or a spoon of honey are effective against cramps (antispasmodic), urethritis, asthma, sore throats, gastric spasms, colds, fevers, menstrual problems, epilepsy, rheumatism and gout.
Cajeput oil, properly diluted, has also traditionally been used as a douche (shower)to treat cystitis and urethritis.
In the Diffuser:
Infection of the airways; the fragrance of cajeput oil gives us a feeling of stability, confidence and clarity when having to make decisions. This is one oil that has reportedly been successfully used with tumours.
SPECIFIC SAFETY ADVICE
Using large amounts of this oil may cause skin irritation. Best not to be used at all during pregnancy and lactation.
GENERAL SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential oils are potent plant extracts! Do not take any oils internally without consultation from a qualified medical practitioner. Keep all essential oils securely out of child’s reach. Do not apply undiluted to the skin. Always avoid mucous membranes and eyes. If you are pregnant or have any medical problem, use oils only under the proper guidance of a qualified medical practitioner. Use extreme caution when using oils for children and use only the gentlest oils at very low concentrations; it is safest to consult a qualified medical / aromatherapy practitioner. A skin patch test should be conducted prior to using any oil. Essential oils may attack plastics and varnished surfaces! And here’s another fact that most of us would be rather unaware of... many essential oils are highly flammable!
