Cinnamon Essential Oil, Therapeutical Grade
Fragrance: Warm, sweet, balmy, spicy
Perfumery Note: Middle/Base
Blends well with: Frankincense, lavender, cedar wood, clove, thyme, citrus oils, jasmine, sandalwood, benzoine, ylang ylang and other floral notes.
External Application:
Mixed with vegetable oil (1-2 drops to 10ml of vegetable oil) as a massage oil for rheumatic complaints, as a rub when suffering from skin parasites (lice), stimulates the circulatory system, relaxes tense muscles, for the treatment of insect bites and bruises.
A few drops of cinnamon oil are ideal in a eucalyptus-peppermint blend, which is used for colds. 1 drop added to the gargling water after cleaning the teeth help with sore gums.
Internal Application:
1- 2 drops of cinnamon oil added to a teaspoon of honey or a cup of herbal tea help with various types of flu, colds, diarrhoea, intestinal cramps, impotence, menstrual complaints, faintness and muscular pains. Cinnamon stimulates the circulation, the heart, the stomach, and the digestion. It also has a warming, antispasmodic and anthelmintic effect.
In the Diffuser:
Gives us the missing physical and mental warmth, gives us a warm, safe and cosy feeling, helps with loneliness, tension and anxiety, stimulates inspiration and creativity.
SPECIFIC SAFETY ADVICE
Skin irritant in larger doses. While cinnamon leaf is less of an irritant, cinnamon bark oil should be avoided completely in skin care, or at least be highly diluted; avoid in pregnancy and with small children, except in diffuser.
GENERAL SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential oils are potent plant extracts! Do not take any oils internally without consultation from a qualified medical practitioner. Keep all essential oils securely out of child’s reach. Do not apply undiluted to the skin. Always avoid mucous membranes and eyes. If you are pregnant or have any medical problem, use oils only under the proper guidance of a qualified medical practitioner. Use extreme caution when using oils for children and use only the gentlest oils at very low concentrations; it is safest to consult a qualified medical / aromatherapy practitioner. A skin patch test should be conducted prior to using any oil. Essential oils may attack plastics and varnished surfaces! And here’s another fact that most of us would be rather unaware of... many essential oils are highly flammable!
