Chateau Sociando Mallet Haut Medoc
The Château Sociando-Mallet is one of the Bordeaux wineries. It is located in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne in the Haut-Médoc appellation on the northern Médoc peninsula. The estate has around 66 hectares of vines planted, 54% of which are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% with Merlot, 1% with Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The estate is beautifully situated on the Gironde north of Saint-Estèphe. The estate has been privately owned by Jean Gautreau since 1969. Jean Gautreau vinifies his wines in the classic conservative Bordeaux style, so that the red wines often have to be aged for a very long time in the cellar, recommended for over 10 to 15 years. A rigorous selection of grapes from vines older than ten years and a long maceration result in a wine full of taste with a deep dark color. Sociando wine has a special bouquet; among other things, it also contains the scent of raspberries. When young, these wines appear somewhat austere, but with age the remarkable class of a Haut-Medoc is achieved. This also results in long shelf life. Until it is bottled on the estate, the wine matures in oak barrels, the barriques.
