Ginger Essential Oil, Therapeutical Grade
Fragrance: Fresh, orange-like, slightly hot, woody or sweet
Perfumery Note: Top/Middle
Blends well with: Citrus oils, woods, resins, the aphrodisiac oils (vetiver, patchouli, rose, ylang ylang, neroli, sandalwood); cajeput, cinnamon, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, orange and verbena.
Ginger is great to add zing and fire to a blend.
External Application:
As a massage oil (5-7 drops of ginger oil to 10ml of vegetable oil) for the treatment of: Circulation complaints, rheumatism, arthritis, muscle tension, fatigue, sluggishness, stiffness.
Application in Cosmetics:
For the treatment and care of oily and impure skin, whereby just a few drops are sufficient. This oil has a stimulating and antiseptic effect.
Kurt Schnaubelt writes in his great book ”Medical Aromatherapy”: it benefits most digestive problems and is immune-strengthening. Recent studies have confirmed ginger’s pronounced effects on the digestive tract. The pungent components of ginger were shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzyme activity in the arachidonic acid metabolic pathway and thereby reduce inflammation and relieve pain, as in rheumatic disorders and migraine headaches. Other compounds of ginger were shown to protect against gastric mucosal lesions.
Internal Application:
1-2 drops of ginger oil added to a teaspoon of honey are an effective remedy for the cure of gastritis, impotence and menstrual- gastric spasms. This oil also lowers fevers, stimulates the digestion and has an antiseptic, carminative and anthelmintic effect. Help with jet lag and motion sickness.

Due to its intensity, use only in moderation, skin irritation possible at high concentration. Slightly phototoxic (avoid sunlight after applying to skin).

Essential oils are potent plant extracts! Do not take any oils internally without consultation from a qualified medical practitioner. Keep all essential oils securely out of child’s reach. Do not apply undiluted to the skin. Always avoid mucous membranes and eyes. If you are pregnant or have any medical problem, use oils only under the proper guidance of a qualified medical practitioner. Use extreme caution when using oils for children and use only the gentlest oils at very low concentrations; it is safest to consult a qualified medical / aromatherapy practitioner. A skin patch test should be conducted prior to using any oil. Essential oils may attack plastics and varnished surfaces! And here’s another fact that most of us would be rather unaware of... many essential oils are highly flammable!
