Blends well with: Most everything... really nice with citrus notes and florals. Add a bit of vetiver or patchouli for a warm base note. Clove will add spice. Geranium, cedar wood, neroli, clary sage and pine are related in character and make great blending partners.
External Application:
As massage oil (5-7 drops of lavender oil to 10ml of vegetable oil) for the treatment of: Rheumatism, Stimulates Circulation, Insect repellent, Sciatica, Arthritis, Soothing during child-birth, stimulates the contractions of the uterus and accelerates the delivery; All kinds of muscular aches, Acne and other skin impurities, Head ache
As an inhalant (10 drops of lavender oil to 1 litre of hot water) for the treatment of: Colds, Coughs, catarrh, sinusitis of the nose and influenza, Motion sickness, Insomnia
Mixed with alcohol (10 drops of lavender oil to 10ml of spirits) lavender oil is against: Moths (spray cupboards and wardrobes), athlete's foot and ringworm (use as a rub, combine with Thyme and Tea Tree oil), mosquitoes, gnats and other insects
With the help of a cotton-wool wad apply pure lavender oil on burns / wounds. This soothes the pain, stimulates the healing process and prevents the forming of scars.
3 drops of lavender oil mixed with 1/4 litre of boiled, lukewarm water provide a vaginal douche (shallow shower) suitable for the treatment of vaginal discharge.
Application in Cosmetics:
Ideal for irritated and inflamed skin on account of its antiseptic, calming, healing, cell-regenerating properties.
Internal Application:
2-3 drops of lavender oil added to a teaspoon of honey or some herbal tea can be used for the treatment of myriad complaints: asthma, bronchitis, depressions, diarrhoea, insomnia, palpitation and nervous tensions. Lavender oil has an anti-depressant, antispasmodic, antiseptic, calming, diuretic, anthelmintic, sudorific and hypotensive effect. It stimulates the nervous system, the immune system, the heart and the production of leucocytes. In the Diffuser: for the treatment of insomnia, depressions, over-wrought emotions (after a hard day's work); has a soothing effect when under physical and emotional stress
